What’s on in Somerset this September
The end of summer may be on the horizon, but with all the fantastic shows, exciting activities and great entertainment still available in Somerset, there’s no reason for the fun to stop quite yet!
90s Rewind Concert at The Grand Pier – 8th September
Turn back the years and move your hips to the sound of your favourite 90s hits. Supporting local grassroots sports teams, the resident DJs Adrian, Rick and Olly will transport you back to the era of Tamagotchis and Titanic with tracks from Cypress Hill, The Neptunes, Oasis and more.
With doors opening at 7:30 pm there’s a whole night of partying to enjoy at this unique waterfront venue.
St Matthews Field Fair and Market in Bridgwater – 26th to 29th September
This annual event has taken over St Matthews Field in nearby Bridgwater for over 600 years and shows no sign of slowing down! Attracting around 40,000 visitors every year, St Matthews Field Fair has the distinction of being the largest fair in the South West.
Once a place to buy and sell livestock, the event now features funfair rides and attractions aplenty as well as a varied and characterful market. There’s so much to see and do, so make sure you pay a visit to Bridgwater this September and have a family day out to remember!
eat:Weston Food Festival – 22nd September
The Italian Gardens in Weston-super-Mare will come alive with the sounds and smells of delicious food this September with the latest event from eat:Festivals. Featuring over 75 primary producers, a dozen high-quality hot food vendors (including vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free options), a beer and cider bar and a club soda alcohol-free meet up, there’s something to tempt the appetite of even the pickiest eater!
Family entertainment will be available throughout with Punch and Judy shows, balloon modelling, face painting, livestock and more. The eat:Festival house DJs will also be on hand to provide a chilled out backing to this delicious September foodie celebration.
Funland Tropicana at Weston’s Iconic Sea-Front Venue – 5th May to 2nd September
There’s still time to pay a visit to Weston’s only outdoor theme park, located at the iconic sea-front Tropicana. Zoom around corners on exciting roller coasters or take to the high seas on the swinging pirate ship. Or, if you’re after something a little more relaxed, take a dodgem out for a spin or try out the traditional chair ride. There’s plenty for the whole family to do at Weston’s own annual summer funfair.
Entrance to the park is free, and, with their new Day Rider Wristband, you can get up to 10 hours unlimited ride access with a one-off payment – you can’t say fairer than that!
As you can see, just because summer is coming to an end, doesn’t mean there isn’t still lots to do! So head on down to Somerset this September and end the season the right way!
The end of summer may be on the horizon, but there’s still so much to do in Somerset, there’s no reason for the fun to stop quite yet!
