What’s on in Somerset this August
Just because we’re approaching the last month of summer, doesn’t mean there isn’t still plenty to do in Somerset! With a full calendar of events as well as the activities available at the park itself, there’s never been a better time to head down to the South West for your next Lakeside holiday!
World Helicopter Day
World Helicopter Day is celebrated around the world on the 3rd Sunday of August. This year’s event falls on August 19th and the Helicopter Museum in Weston-super-Mare will be in full party mode with a range of special events taking place on the day. As well as what is said the be the largest helicopter collection on the planet, the museum will be offering special talks and exclusive access to the cockpits of three of the museums most exciting choppers; the Russian Hind, American Huey and the British built Lynx.
Pre-Booking air experience flights are also available, places are limited, however, so make sure you book well in advance!
Weston Street Food Market
The Weston Street Food Market will be taking over the Italian Gardens in Weston-super-Mare on the evening of August 24th. From 4 pm to 9 pm, this town square will be awash with the aroma of hot food from a dozen high-quality hot food vendors with options available for all dietary needs.
As well as food, the event will also play host to a craft beer & cider bar alongside an alcohol-free Cub Soda meet up – meaning there’ll be plenty of options for delicious drinks to wash down your dinner with.
The eat:Weston house DJs will be providing a laid-back musical background while children’s entertainment will be available in the form of a balloon modeller, Punch & Judy show and face painting.
Stars of Time – Film and Comic Con
Advertised as “The Comic Con by the Sea” the Stars of Time Film and Comic Con returns to the iconic Tropicana venue in Weston-super-Mare this August. With doors opening on Sunday 26th at 10.00 am, visitors have the opportunity to lose themselves in distant lands with a range of guests, displays, costume competitions, charity raffles and specialist retail stalls from dealers around the UK. Special guests include Classic Doctor Who’s Lalla Ward and David Warner, famous for his roles in TRON, Star Trek, Time Bandits and more to name just a few!
All attendees will also receive a free entry pass to Tropicana’s summer Funland.
