Retail Therapy in Torquay

shutterstock_162758963Torquay has been well known as a tourist destination since the 1830s when it developed a reputation for being a very healthy place to holiday especially in the winter because of its fresh air and mild climate. This is where the rich went to relax and play. It was a great place to go yachting.

Only half an hour from Galmpton Touring Park Torquay still draws in visitors. It’s that kind of place.

Within Torquay, there is the Fleet Walk Shopping Centre which takes the therapeutic shopping experience to a whole new level. In the rare case you are not familiar with Torquay, here is how you get there. Head along the A380 to the A3022 Riviera Way. This will take you right to the Torquay seafront.

Keep the sea to your right and head along Torbay Road to the harbourside. Join Cary Parade and on the left, you will see Fleet Walk. You are there. If elegant shopping excites you, head to the Designer Gallery to find Ted Baker, Laura Ashley and Paul Smith. For more typical shopping check out TK Maxx, Poundland, Opus, and some of the other stores.

Parking is easy with more than 400 spaces, accessible from Cary Parade and Rock Road. The parking has been given the Park Mark Safer Parking award. If you prefer to travel by bus or train, Fleet Walk is minutes away from the harbourside bus stops and a short (20 minute) walk from the Torquay train station.

There’s a Pizza Hut, Jades Coffee House and The Really Good Sandwich Company if you want to stop and take a break and have a bite. An online reviewer noted that she loved to shop at Fleet Walk because of the variety available. She liked that she always found the right gift as well as a treat for herself.
