How to Spend April in Somerset
We’ve well and truly sprung into Spring and with the days lasting that little bit longer, there’s even more for you to do and see this April. We’ve scoured the local events and have found the top things to do for the month!
1st April - Hunt down some Cadbury Easter eggs with a twist... follow the story of Peter Pan and Captain Hook and try not to get eaten by the crocodile or captured by pirates at Dunster Castle!
1st April - Get a taste of Somerset history at the Axbridge market in the 400 year old market square in the centre of the ancient town.
2nd April – Learn about the amazing world of flight and handle owls and other birds of prey with a bubble show for extra entertainment at The Helicopter Museum.
7th, 14th, 21st and 28th April – watch 2016 Premier League champions and league cup winners Somerset Rebels at Somerset Speedway
15th April – With the very best views from the Grand Pier and optional upgrades to include a three course meal, experience this amazing spectacular fireworks display set out to sea.
15th April – Get the whole family together for a Gruffalo themed day out including an appearance from the Gruffalo himself, a woodland themed Easter Egg hunt, face painting, helter skelter and more at Minehead Railway Station.
23rd April – You can’t go to the seaside without having fish and chips so why not hop on and enjoy a fish and chip lunch aboard a steam train excursion from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead and back.
28th April – Indulge in some local produce and bag yourself a bargain at Burnham-on-Sea Farmers’ Market in the centre of this quaint seaside town.
29th April – Step back in time with Taunton Garrison at the Living History Camp and experience what life was like during the Civil War with battle re-enactments and weapons demonstrations through the day at Dunster Castle.
30th April – An event for all dog lovers and an opportunity to raise money for Happy Landings Animal Shelter, the Festival of Dogs is a free event with a dog show, agility performance and a range of activities and stalls!
