SeaQuarium – Face Your Fears and Have Some Fun
SeaQuarium Weston is a huge aquarium filled with freshwater, marine and tropical species and has it’s own pier on the Weston-super-Mare seafront. Just 25 minutes away from Lakeside, it’s a great day out for all the family.
With a total of 10 zones and over 30 exhibits, you can see puffer fish in the Tropical Reef Zone, piranha’s in the Rainforest River Zone and you can walk through the Underwater Ocean Tunnel where all kinds of wonderful creatures swim all around you – including the sharks!
The newest addition to the zones at the SeaQuarium is Fantastic Phobias, and features the things that nightmares are made of. With rodents, insects and all manner of slimy creatures, you can face your fears board the ‘SS Sea Q’ and take a tour through an area laden with terrifying creepy crawlies.
The experience promises to provide you with a new insight into these little beasties and who knows, you might learn that some things are not as scary as you thought they were.
When you arrive at the SeaQuarium, you can pick up a free Discovery Trail scratch card, where children can answer questions as they make their way along the Discovery Trail. At the end, you can enter your scratch card into a monthly prize draw to win an ‘Adopt a Buddy’ package of your choice.
Admission for Adults (16-64 years) are £8.50, Children (3-15years) are £6.50, Senior Citizens (65+), People with disabilities (with a blue badge) and Students (with a valid Student Card) are all £7.50. Children under 3 are free. You will receive a re-entry hand stamp on arrival so you can leave and return throughout the day and if you buy your tickets online you save 10%.
Admission covers the Evo, Ray and Fresh Water Zones, the Tropical Reef, Dr. Cod’s Rock Pool Encounters and Out of the Blue Jellyfish! As well as the Rainforest River, Crustacean Cove and Ocena Depths! You can listen to talks from the staff and watching the daily feeds, and when you have finished exploring you can visit the Driftwood Café and gift shop.
SeaQuarium is easy to find. Go along the M5 (Junction 21) to join the A370, or take M5 (Junction 22) to join the A38/A370 into Weston-super-Mare. There are visible signs indicating the way to SeaQuarium from that point on. Coach and mini bus drop off points are just outside the centre and offer easy accessibility for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
