Brixfest 2018 in Brixham

Brixfest returns! Brixfest is a festival for all the family to enjoy with lots of different things going on throughout the five days. Starting on the 26th and finishing on the 30th May, the Brixfest committee have been working their socks off to make this festival even better than last year!

This family festival based in Brixham near Galmpton. Galmpton is  the perfect place for a weekend away with the family.

As with previous years, the doors will open at 11am on Saturday 26th May and appearances from local VIPs and a performance from the Brixham Town Band will get things rocking and start Brixfest 2018 in style! Cooking demonstrations will also be happening led by local chefs and using local ingredients. You can even try a kayak with the IBEX Canoe Club that will be running from 1–4pm. Come along to the grand opening of the Shoalstone pool which officially opens at 10am and the first swimming race of the season will finally kick of at 2pm – come down and give your support!

Local bands and musicians will rock and roll into the afternoon and evening with the famous ‘Grand Firework Display’ at 9:50pm. Whilst watching the fireworks enjoy the incredible ‘3BF’ who will be playing their hearts out all evening.

Rolling into Sunday 27th sees the return of the annual Brixfest Dragon-boat Challenge. With teams made up of local people battling it out along the breakwater for victory – who will become the dragon-boat champion? Even if you don’t want to take part yourself you can always cheer on the local people. There’s also an Arts and Crafts Market run by the Brixham Chamber of Commerce, which can be found underneath the fish market and will be on all afternoon.

On Monday 28th, Brixfest’s children’s day kicks off with organisations from all over Torbay and Devon on Breakwater Beach. Children and their families can take part in free activities throughout the day! Face painting, drama workshops, live music, balloon-animal making, boat building and so much more. The best thing about it? It’s all free to do!

Local pubs will also be putting on live music all weekend and you’ll never be too far away from a sit down and a pint! Charity mini stalls are also on, selling goods with all money going to charity, so get involved.

Tuesday 29th features the ever popular Brixfest crabbing competitions, catch as many crabs as you can to become the ultimate crabbing champion! It’s harder than you think so here’s a tip, get the bait right and you’ll catch them easy as you like! Do you have what it takes to become the champion?

Driving into Wednesday 30th is the annual Brixfest Classic Car Rally. Making a comeback by such a popular demand, cars of all ages will be lining up at the Breakwater car park so you can see some real classics!

Brixfest will bring hundreds of artists, charities, chefs and local people together with thousands of visitors. Throughout the festival there are lots of pubs and restaurants open for you to grab a bite to eat and a beverage whilst helping out the local community.

Whilst visiting Brixham, come down and stop at Galmpton Holiday Parks where you can rest, spend time with the family and recharge your batteries for the adventure! There’s plenty to do in the holiday park itself, with watersports, access to the bar and other areas inside the clubhouse.
