2018 South Hams Festivals
Happy New Year! With the coming of 2018, we’re looking forward more than ever to the next season at Galmpton Touring Park. We can’t wait to welcome friends old and new alike to stay with us.
Something else we’re looking forward to is the start of the festival season here in South Hams. The area is home to a great variety of events. From folk festivals to pirate adventures there’s a little bit of everything! Here are just some of our favourites to help whet your appetite for the coming year!
Brixham Pirate Festival – Brixham
11th – 13th May 2018
The town of Brixham seems to have a bit of a pirate problem. Every May you’ll find this small coastal town overrun by these salty sea dogs. This yearly event features pirate ship displays, including Brixham’s own Golden Hind and other exciting attractions. You’ll witness live pirate skirmishes, pirate bands and a whole lot more as you explore Brixham and the shanty town that is built especially for the event.
Keep your telescope trained on the Brixham Pirate Festival website for more information on the 2018 event.
Dart Music Festival – Dartmouth
11th – 13th May 2018
The annual Dart Music Festival is a unique entry in Britain’s musical calendar. Having adopted a ‘Music for All’ policy, the Dart Music Festival features artists from all over the musical sphere. From leather jacketed alternative rock to choral assemblies, the Dart Music Festival has it all. Better yet the event is free! Venues range from historical Tudor forts to market courtyards and all can be accessed free of charge! To help keep the festival free for years to come, why not offer your support? The Dart Music Festival has a range of donation options and programmes available for purchase to help you do just that.

For three days, Brixham will become a hive of activity, which can be enjoyed for almost nothing as nearly all of the great attractions of BrixFest can be enjoyed for free! This annual treat for fans of folk music reaches its twentieth year in 2018. The midsummer festival brings together some of the most exciting folk acts in Britain for a variety of musical events. As well as concerts and performances, visitors will also be treated to workshops and dance acts, and fans will even have the opportunity to meet with some of their favourite artists.
